I need to find a piece of music that starts soft and anticipatory--cuing the listener that something good is about to happen--then bursts forth with a faster tempo and a lot of energy. Preferably instrumental.

I haven't a freakin' clue how to find such a thing. Anyone?

Loreena McKinnet's The Mystic's Dream is like that, except it does have vocals...

Thank you! What a lovely song. The mood isn't quite right for my purposes, but I loved listening to it.

Just from trying to find music for 2 or 3 video projects, I have gained a whole new level of respect for those who put together soundtracks. It is *tough*.

"Finlandia" is what comes to mind, although I can't recall how it starts....

"Starts soft and gets louder" is pretty much the entire description of 'Bolero,' although the tempo doesn't change, so it not might be right for your purposes.

Possibly something by Enya? 'The Memory of Trees' has vocals, but I don't believe there are words as such.

I'd suggest "Thus Spake Zarathustra" (from 2001: A Space Odyssey), but that's probably too over the top (not to mention overdone). :-D
